Liner Notes Live is a literary cabaret, an evening of spoken word in tribute to a classic album, featuring authors, poets, comedians, hip hop artists, musicians. It's an incomparable immersion in the music, the artists and the times. Memories are relived, histories are unearthed, facts revealed and fictions wrought.
Each of the album's tracks is assigned to a performer who delivers a response in any way they see fit. With the host, Michael Nolan, also telling the true story of the album throughout the night, and the LNL house band recreating the hits, it's like a living music documentary, but instead of Bono, you hear from a cast of unexpected voices offering their stories of personal connection to the album, or riffing on it to create original spoken word performances.
“I am killing my ego, one Bowie tribute at a time. Ziggy played guitar. Now I do too.” – Angie Hart | “How did Duff resist turning to Kurt and singing ‘We’re on a plane’...?” – Michael Nolan | “It’s enough to make you consider giving up writing altogether and taking up something easier, like, oh I don’t know… herding cattle?” — Andy Griffiths | “I was 11 when I first saw ‘Labyrinth’, and when I came out of that cinema I was different...” – Emilie Zoey Baker | “Don’t look now, but I’m pretty sure Dave Grohl and Kris Noveselic are standing right behind us...” – Sean M Whelan | “The theme from the television series ‘Rawhide’” – Michael Nolan | “Motel money murder madness, Change the mood from glad to sadness” – LNL band |
